VPU Customer Service guidelines on how to upgrade your utility services.
Upgrading your electric panel requires coordinating with multiple entities, here is your guide to the process:
- Request, receive, and submit an application package
- Verify the location of the transformer and new panel or switchgear.
- Submit PDF copies of the electrical and utility plans for new buildings to the utility service planner (Required for 400A and above).
- Make corrections and resubmit, if requested.
- Submit shop drawings for switchgear (and bus duct, if applicable).

Request and receive VPU Electric Service Requirements (ESR)

Request and receive Easement Applicant Packet (if needed)

Pay the appropriate fee and pull Electrical and/or Encroachment permits

Electrical Construction
Call for electrical inspection and make correction(s) if needed.

Utility Infrastructure and Switchgear Construction
- Verify the location of the transformer and new panel or switchgear. Call for utility infrastructure inspection and make correction(s) if needed.
- Create the Easement document and submit it for UG/Padmount service, or upon request.
