The Green Vernon Commission (GVC) consists of seven members including three representatives from Vernon’s business community; two labor representatives; and two environmental representatives (one of which shall be from the environmental-justice community). Members serve four-year terms and shall serve no more than two full consecutive terms. The Commission meets quarterly in March, June, September, and December on the third Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Vernon Council Chamber. (Municipal Code Section 2.44)
The GVC was established as in November 2011 as the Sustainable Development and Energy Efficiency Commission and renamed Green Vernon Commission in May 2014. In addition to conducting periodic reviews of the Sustainability Action Plan for the City operations and activities, the Commission is also intended to provide a forum for addressing the public's concerns related to sustainability and energy efficiency issues.
