The Vernon Police Department utilizes Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) systems to locate stolen vehicles and wanted persons associated with known vehicles. Data records associated with the ALPR program is housed in secure servers. It is the policy of the Vernon Police Department to utilize ALPR technology to capture and store digital license plate data and images while recognizing the established privacy rights of the public. The Vernon Police Department has strict guidelines and policies regarding the use, storage, dissemination, and retention of ALPR records.

In compliance with SB34, a copy of the Vernon Police Department ALPR policy is available for public review.
