NOTICE OF ELECTION

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Vernon on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, for the following Officer:

  For One (1) Members of the City Council       Full term of five (5) years   

The nomination period for this office begins on Monday, December 17, 2018, and closes on Monday, January 14, 2019, at 5:30 p.m. If nomination papers for an incumbent officer of the city are not filed by Monday, January 14, 2019, the voters shall have until the 83rd day before the election, Wednesday, January 16, 2019, to nominate candidates other than the person who is the incumbent for that incumbent's elective office.

Two (2) Ballot Measures:

 

Measure S: Shall Chapter 3.5 of Article III of the Vernon City Charter be amended to change the process for selecting the Mayor from one by which the other Councilmembers vote to one by which Councilmembers are appointed according to an automatic rotation schedule based on year of election?

Measure T: Shall Chapter 3.6 of Article III of the Vernon City Charter be amended to change the process for selecting the Mayor Pro Tempore from one by which the other Councilmembers vote to one by which Councilmembers are appointed according to an automatic rotation schedule based on year of election?

            NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following persons have been nominated for the offices designated to be filled at the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Vernon on Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
