Power Integrated Resource Plan
The City of Vernon is currently conducting a study of comprehensive Integrated Resource Plan and a Rate Design based on a Cost of Service. The results of these studies will guide the Utility’s decision making in the procurement of resources and delivery of services. Your input is vital as it will help us understand and account for your business plans as we make procurement and service plans.

Background:
The Power Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) is Vernon’s 10-year blueprint for ensuring reliable and environmentally-responsible energy, at affordable rates. Our Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) of 50% by 2030 is VPU’s commitment to a sustainable energy future. This IRP will comply with Senate Bill 350 (de León), which was signed into law October 2015. It requires utilities with load greater than 700 GWh, such as VPU, to develop an IRP by January 1, 2019 and update the IRP every five years. On August 9, 2017, the California Energy Commission issued IRP Guidelines. For more information, visit the CEC Requirements website.
