The City of Vernon hires new Director of Public Works Daniel Wall
Vernon, Calif. (August 16, 2017) - On Tuesday, August 15, 2017, the city's new Director of Public Works Daniel Wall was administered his oath of office by City Clerk Maria E. Ayala at Vernon's City Council meeting at City Hall. At their August 1, 2017, meeting, Vernon City Council members unanimously approved the city administrator's recommendation to hire Daniel Wall as a permanent replacement for the Interim Public Works Director Kevin Wilson.
Mr. Wall officially began his assignment at Vernon on Monday and public works staff members were introduced to the new executive at a special departmental lunch. "Daniel has already hit the ground running," said City Administrator Carlos Fandino. "We're excited to have him on board. He'll be working closely with the current interim director to allow for a seamless transition into his role." He will oversee a diverse workforce responsible for community development and maintenance of public infrastructure.
Daniel Wall most recently served as the director of parks and public works for the city of San Marino. Prior to his executive positions, Mr. Wall served as an assistant director of public works for Whittier and a city engineer for San Fernando. His breadth of knowledge is derived from a background that includes over 10 years of public sector management experience.
Mr. Wall, a registered civil engineer and a licensed real estate broker, earned a bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from California State University, Northridge and a master's of business administration from the University of Southern California.
